Attorney Roy David Petersen works in pharmacy
malpractice, military law, DUI and criminal law, auto accidents, personal injury, and wrongful death cases. He has over 36 years of experience and is a former prosecutor and judge. As a retired Navy JAG Corps Captain (O-6), he is certified by the United States Navy under Article 27b of the Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ) as military trial counsel and military defense counsel.
He served as Assistant Regional Counsel for the United States Department of Energy, for the Southeast United States, and as Assistant District Attorney for Fulton County, Atlanta, Georgia, where he was a trial assistant and appellate attorney, and as Assistant Attorney General of Georgia where he was the attorney for numerous State agencies including the Georgia State Patrol, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, the Georgia Department of Corrections and Offender Rehabilitation, the Georgia Department of Public Safety, the State Crime Laboratory and the State Driver's License Division, and as one of the attorneys for the Secretary of State.
He is author of four textbooks: Two on constitutional law, one on courtroom procedure, and one on medical engineering. His Ph.D. dissertation and his textbooks are on file with the Library of Congress.
Academically, he is former acting Chairman of the Physics Department at Dana College, Blair, Nebraska and a former Systems Analyst Consultant at the University of Nebraska College of Medicine.
He retired from the United States Navy, Judge Advocate Generals Corps (JAG Corps) at the rank of Captain (O-6). He spent over 25% of his Navy career as a commanding officer. He was assigned to the Office of the Judge Advocate General (OJAG) in Alexandria, Virginia, and the Naval Hospital Jacksonville, Florida, to name a couple of assignments. Prior to his Naval service, he spent six years in the United States Air Force, the bulk of which was in Strategic Air Command (SAC), with a B-52 Wing.
